Are there additional fees?

For central booking service gîtes an administration fee is added to the bill: 18€ for stays of one or more weeks (and for stays of 5 or more nights), 12€ for weekends and short breaks (up to 4 nights).

Can I take out cancellation insurance?

Only if you book a gîte via the central booking service. Check the cancellation insurance terms and conditions.
Cancellation insurance is not offered if you book directly with the owners.

Can I book a gite another day apart from Friday or Saturday?

Outside the summer period (except last minute bookings), June/September and French school holidays, you can arrive at a gîte on any day of the week and stay for as long as you wish (2 nights minimum). Your stay

Where do I go to gain entry to my rented property?

You go to the place where the property is located or to a meeting point indicated on the access details provided by the central booking service or owner. In every case you should contact the owners or person responsible for meeting you (contact information on the property details sent with contract) a few days before your intended arrival. The owners or their representative will give you the keys to your rented property.

Will there be extra charges to pay on the spot?

A damage deposit cheque will be requested by the owner when he/she takes you over the property and inventory/state of repair: this cheque will not be cashed and will be returned to you at the end of your stay if no damage has occurred.
The owner will ask you to pay tourist tax if the property is in a district which charges it: on average it is between 0,50€ and 1€ per person/day with lower rates for children (voted on by local council).
The cost of electricity, heating and firewood must also be paid to the owner (unless otherwise specified in the property details).

At what time should I arrive?

As a general rule for gîtes:
- weekly stays: arrive after 4pm and leave before 10am.
- weekends: arrive after 6pm and leave before 6pm.
For guesthouses, where you stay on a nightly basis: arrive between 4pm and 7pm, leave before 12 noon.
